Ivanti Cloud Connector Installation on Microsoft Azure

Prerequisites:

Before you deploy Ivanti Cloud Connector in Microsoft Azure, make sure that you meet the following requirements:

  • You have access to the Microsoft Azure Portal with permissions to create Azure resources.

  • The Cloud Connector .vhd file provided with the release is available.

  • An Azure Storage Account is available.

  • Required VNet, subnet, NSG and IP address information is available.

Upload the Ivanti Cloud Connector VHD

Unzip the Ivanti Cloud Connector release package and upload the .vhd file to an Azure Storage Account.

You can use one of the following methods to upload the .vhd file:

Using the Azure portal

Follow the steps to upload the .vhd file using the Azure Portal:

Procedure

  1. In the Azure portal, go to Storage Accounts.

  2. Select the required Storage Account.

  3. Go to Data storage > Containers.

  4. Select an existing container or create a new container.

  5. Select Upload.

  6. Choose the Ivanti Cloud Connector .vhd file.

    Wait for the upload to complete.

  7. Verify that the VHD file is available in the container.

Using Azure Storage Explorer

Follow the steps to upload the .vhd file using the Azure Storage Explorer:

Use Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer to upload large VHD files.

Procedure

  1. Open Azure Storage Explorer.

  2. Sign in to your Azure account.

  3. Select the required Subscription > Storage Account > Blob Container.

  4. Select Upload > Upload Files.

  5. Choose the Ivanti Cloud Connector .vhd file.

    Wait for the upload to complete.

  6. Verify that the VHD file is available in the selected blob container.

    Do not proceed until the VHD upload is complete.

Creating a Custom Image

Follow the steps to create an Azure custom image from the uploaded Ivanti Cloud Connector VHD:

Procedure

  1. In the Azure portal, go to Images.

  2. Select Create.

  3. Select Subscription, Resource Group, and Region options.

  4. Enter an image name. For example, cloud-connector-image.

  5. Select the appropriate OS type.

  6. Set VM Generation to Gen 1.

  7. Select the uploaded VHD as the image source in Storage Account > Container > Ivanti Cloud Connector VHD.

  8. Select Review + create > Create.

    Wait for the image creation to complete successfully.

  9. Verify that the custom image is available.

    Ivanti Cloud Connector requires VM Generation 1 (Gen 1).

Creating the Ivanti Cloud Connector VM

Follow the steps to create an Ivanti Cloud Connector VM:

Procedure

  1. Open the custom image that you created in Creating a Custom Image.

  2. Select Create VM.

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • Subscription and Resource Group

    • VM name

    • Region and VM size

    • Virtual Network (VNet) and Subnet

    • Network Security Group (NSG)

    • Public IP address (optional)

  4. Configure any additional settings required for your environment.

  5. Select Review + create > Create.

    Wait for the deployment to complete.

  6. Verify that the VM status is operational.

Restarting the Ivanti Cloud Connector VM

After the VM is created and reaches the Running state, complete the following steps:

Wait approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Procedure

  1. Restart the VM, from the VM Overview page.

  2. Wait for the VM to return to the Running state.

Configuring Ivanti Cloud Connector Using the Serial Console

Follow the steps to configure Ivanti Cloud Connector using the Serial Console:

Procedure

  1. Open the Ivanti Cloud Connector VM in the Azure portal.

  2. Go to Help > Serial Console.

    Wait for the Serial Console to connect.

    The Ivanti Cloud Connector Configuration Wizard appears on the first connection.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial configuration.

    If the Serial Console displays another clish session error, return to the VM Overview page, restart the VM, and reconnect to the serial console after the VM returns to the Running state.
